Massive waves pound the cliffs at Shore Acres State Park outside of Charleston in Oregon.
This was taken on the week of the last full moon in December. Forecasts said the waves would be huge. I missed what I though would be the most optimal day to go, and on this particular day I almost turned around and went home when I noted on my drive down the Cape Arago Highway that the tide was out... way out.
I'm glad I decided to go into the park and see what was happening, regardless that the tide was out. The waves were massive, 20 to 40 foot swells. Not every wave made a display like this, but when they arrived with just the right speed, at the right time, the results were breathtaking.
For scale, those are people behind a fence atop the cliff on the right in the distance.
