In my younger days I did a brief backpacking excursion in Glacier National Park, Montana. It was my first visit to that park and I was awe-struck by its beauty.
Fast-forward to 2012 when Lori and I took a road trip to Yellowstone, Glacier, Washington, Oregon, and California. It was quite the trip and Glacier was definitely one of the highlights, though, unfortunately, Going To The Sun Road through Logan Pass was closed.
We started on the West side of the park and immediately gave up because it was constantly raining there. We took the Southern route over to East Glacier and found the weather there to be absolutely gorgeous. We had a great time, and I got some beautiful images.
Even back then, I noticed that between the short interval between the days I backpacked in the park and our road trip, the glaciers had receded quite a bit. I haven’t been back to Glacier National Park since, but I suspect there are very few of the glaciers left by now.
