I originally stumbled on this spooky Cottonwood tree a year ago on a gray and bleak day while hiking on the San Pedro River. At the time the only camera I had was an Olympus 3000Z point-and-shoot and the photos I made of this tree with it were good but not all I had hoped for.
A year later, I'm back to try again with my Nikon D100. Though the photos are better the spookiness just isn't there for the sky is now bluer and the light is much warmer.
Still, I learned a valuable lesson from this tree. The type of light determines how the subject will appear.
