The old ghost town of Fairbank, Arizona is a favorite haunt of mine. I used to photograph the buildings here frequently, until the collapse of the mud walls on the Adobe Commercial Building. To prevent injury to the public a large chain-link fence was put around the premises and since then I've avoided the area, preferring to head straight out onto well-maintained desert trails.
Recently I did the loop trail and ended up in the middle of the town. I was very surprised at the progress they've made in restoring the area. The care and detail that has gone into the project is very impressive. The large ugly fence has been replaced with a garden variety fence which is much less intrusive.
This is one of the renovated doors on the Adobe Commercial Building. Considering its size and placement, I suspect it is the entrance to the saloon area inside the building.
