Description
A female Merlin falcon (Falco columbarius) sitting on a log that overlooks a pond, scanning for her next meal which will probably be a large juicy grasshopper. The bird is front-lit and she's posed against the blurred, shaded, and dappled embankment on the far side of the pond. Her perch is a large silvery gray Cottonwood log that spans the width of the image and she's framed by green reeds that poke up on both sides of her.
