This bird is confined to a narrow range of subtropical Afirca that extends from Senegal on Africa's West coast to the Northeast corner of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in central Africa,. It prefers habiat comprised of old-growth Isoberlinia trees in warm moist savannahs where it subsists on a diet of mostly grasshoppers and other large insects.
