Seastacks floating on the morning fog provide a fairy-tale ocean view from this cliff-side home on the Southern Oregon Coast near Ophir.
It was a foggy morning drive along US101 when suddenly the sun peeked out and I noted that the seastacks looked like islands floating on a sea of mist. One view was particularly spectacular, but there was nowhere to pull over and it disappeared behind a hill as I drove on.
On the other side of the hill was a pullout that had a car parked in it. I noted a woman scrambling down a trail on the hill, back toward the car. I noted she had a camera and immediately knew she must have been taking a photo of the the scene I just saw!
I turned around as soon as I found a safe spot to do so, went back to the pullout, clambered up the path the woman had taken, and saw this scene below me. The trail led to a small ledge with a clearing. Obviously many other people had stood here to take pictures.
After picking my jaw up off the ground, I noticed the house, and had to once again retrieve my jaw. The house was in a perfect spot, with a trail leading up along the huge seastack next to it, and another trail leading down to the rocky beach below.
What a magnificent place to live!
