Description
An ominous-looking Blue And Gold Macaw (Ara ararauna), perched on a tree limb in the South American Aviary at Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, Arizona.
These are large South American birds, varying between 2 to 3 pounds. They can be found in Panama, Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay. They once inhabited Trinidad, in the Carribean, but were eradicated by humans by 1970.
